Dr. Al Hammond is a serial entrepreneur, a founder of the Base of the Pyramid concept, a widely-recognized and frequently-quoted expert on the uses of technology and business strategies for low income markets, a consultant to major corporations and international agencies, and principal author of the landmark analysis, The Next 4 Billion: Market Size and Business Strategy for the Base of the Pyramid, published by The International Finance Corporation and the World Resources Institute. He founded and served as CEO for a wireless broadband company based in the United States, and has extensive experience in emerging markets.

Loretta Michaels is a consultant and former telecommunications executive with an extensive background in strategic planning and new venture development, with a particular focus on developing markets. Her projects over the years include the formation of manufacturing joint ventures in Hungary and Morocco for a major telecommunications equipment manufacturer, world-first cellular and WiFi roaming agreements between competing cellular carriers in Canada, and the formation of a mobile payments company between mobile service providers and banks in Canada.

Robert Starmer is a systems architect with experience in wireless and wired network infrastructure and network management systems, including technology integration, product manufacturing, and network design and installation in emerging markets. His recent projects include a voice and data network for farming communities in central Vietnam, an interconnected school network for underprivileged native Maya children in Yucatan, Mexico, and project designs for networks in the Philippines and Costa Rica.
